Heel pain is one of the most commonly reported foot complaints and can present significant difficulties when prescribing foot orthoses.
The main issue is that the inflammation present under the heel makes the use of hard materials difficult for the patient to tolerate.
However, rigid control is usually required due to the underlying foot biomechanics e.g. excessive pronation, patient obesity etc. The Stepahead Heel Protector uses a soft heel cushion combined with a rigid functional shell to solve these problems.
Prescribing Note – if the plantar heel pain is not located under the centre of the heel, simply mark its location in the cast or foam impression box. We will then locate the pad in the correct position.
